What data we collect

A transparent list of the signals CalmSignal uses to deliver insights—all processed on-device.

Overview

By default, CalmSignal collects nothing. All analysis happens 100% on your device using on-device AI models. The emotional tone analysis, stress detection, and emotion classification all happen locally—your text never leaves your device.

What is processed (on-device only)

CalmSignal processes the following data entirely on your device:

None of this data is sent to servers unless you explicitly enable optional cloud sync (disabled by default).

  • Text you type: Analyzed locally using on-device AI models (CoreML on iOS, ONNX/heuristics on Android, ONNX/heuristics in browsers)
  • Optional wearable metrics: Heart rate, HRV, and activity data (if you connect a wearable)
  • App settings: Your preferences and configuration (stored locally)

What we do not collect

CalmSignal does not collect:

  • Contact lists or address books
  • Location data
  • Message recipients or email addresses
  • Photos or media files
  • Browsing history (browser extensions only analyze text you type)

Optional cloud sync

If you choose to enable cloud sync (opt-in only), only aggregated insights are synced—never your raw text. Your actual messages and keyboard input always remain on your device.
